Installation notes

- Plug the A1303 board(s) inside the PC.
- Driver installation:
- If you are using Windows98, 2000 or XP you will exploit the Plug'n Play 
services of these OSes and, once the system at reboot has found the A1303 
you plugged, simply inform it that the correct device driver is in the 
Driver\Win2k or Driver\Win98 or Driver\WinXP directory and let it to complete 
the installation phase.
- If you are using WinNT 4.0, since it isn't a Plug'n Play OS, you must:
- log in as Administrator
- manually copy the A1303.sys file located in the Driver\WinNT4.0 directory 
into the %windir%\system32\drivers directory ( %windir% is usually c:\winnt )
- execute the "regini a1303.ini" command in the Driver\WinNT4.0 directory
- reboot the PC
- Launch the setup program present in the HSCAENETLib_1.4 directory.
- Follow the instructions of the setup program.
- Once setup process has finished, the HSCAENETLib.dll library is 
installed together with sources (Microsoft Visual C++) and executable of 
two demo programs, to control respectively the SY127 and SY527 Power Supplies.


To install a DAQ card and use it to communicate with one of Fred's Labview programs

(here are Fred's instructions for the single wire Tension program)

1) Login as administrator

2) Install tension program:
a) Navigate to \\DUNN\MyFiles\Luehring\BridgeVIEW\Tension\disks
b) Double-click setup.exe
c) Click finish when the setup program starts.
d) Click ok.
e) Reboot.


3) Login as administrator

4) Insert National Instruments Data Acquistion Driver Software CD #1
into CD reader.

5) When the menu opens select Install NI-DAQ.
a) Click Next on welcome screen.
b) Click Next on release notes screen.
c) Click Yes on license screen.
d) Click Next on support files selection screen.
e) Click Next on selection confirmation screen.
f) Click Restart Later.

6) Shutdown the machine.

7) Insert the card.

8) Reboot the machine.

9) Login as administrator.

10) A window called "Welcome to NI-DAQ Documentation Setup!" opens.
a) Click Next.
b) Select your card type off of the list and click next.
(For example PCI-MIO-16E-4 or DAQCard-6062E.)
c) Click next on accessories screen.
d) Click next on install reccomended documentation screen.
e) Click next on selected documentation screen.
f) Click next on install the documentation on disk screen.
g) Click finish.
h) Click finish a second time which will start the Automation
Explorer software.

11) Automation Explorer (MAX) opens. Click OK.

For Windows 2000 (modified instructions from Pauline)

12) Click on + for Devices and Interfaces
a) Select your device: each inserted card should appear here

b) right click on it and select Properties

13) Now configure the device in window that opens using the various tabs:
a) System: the right numbers should already be there: device number 1 for the first card and 2 for the second card (Do NOT change to a different number.)
b) A1:  Select Referenced Single Ended mode and Polarity Range: -10V - +10V
c) AO: default  (bipolar.)
d) Accessory: default (none.)
e) OPC: default (disabled) and Nothing (default) for security
f) Click apply and OK and close this screen.

14) Reboot. (although it might not be necessary for Windows 2000)

 

For Windows NT (instructions from Fred)

12) Right click Devices and Interfaces in My System and select
"Create New" (ONLY required if running NT 4.0 with a DAQCard
device).
a) Select your device and click finish.

13) Now configure device in window that opens.
a) Click Next to select assigning device as number 1.
(Do NOT change to a different number.)
b) Assign Slot 1 or 2, First Memory Address, and IRQ 5 on system
screen. Click Next. (NT only with DAQCard.)
c) Select Referenced Single Ended mode on AI screen and click Next.
d) Next on AO screen. (Selects bipolar.)
e) Click next on accessory screen. (Selects none.)
f) Click next on OPC screen.
g) Click finish on Remote access screen.

14) If running NT with DAQCard you must reboot.


Description

The DAQ card needs to be reconfigured according to the instructions above. The AI value should be set to referenced single ended. This information gets lost if the DAQ card is ejected from the laptop by mistake.
